Nashville Flower magazine
This is a recently completed project for Janie Molster Designs, for her room at the Flower Magazine Show-house in Nashville TN. For this project her team wanted 4 tables to snug into the two curved slipper sofas in the room. Two of the tables were larger versions of pieces I’d made previously, but 2 were a new design, based on a lamp I’d made few years ago. We chose 6 colors from her room and used them in the large and small version of these multi-colored drums. It was a super challenging project! The tabes were very heavy when they were wet and needed flipping, which required three people, 2 ratchet straps and a lot of nerve. Getting them in and out of the kiln was also a challenge…. I ended up having to take apart the kiln and detach the wiring each time a table went in… that was 5 times total. It would have been six, but in a rush, I didn’t let one table dry long enough and it exploded in the kiln. After a good freak-out, I was able to rebuild it with some resin and the help of local auto-body shop, and it arrived in time for the opening of the show house. #whew
It’s been a few months, the insult of the explosion and hard work has faded, and now I can almost imaging doing another set in all blues and purples. Almost….
